Madeline pursued a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Southampton under an academic scholarship and graduated in 2014.
She completed her Relevant Legal Training and Practice Training with Templars Law LLC and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2016.
Madeline’s primary area of practice is in litigation and dispute resolution, with a focus in commercial and civil disputes, insolvency as well as criminal matters.
She has also represented clients in contested family disputes and contentious probate matters and advised clients on corporate matters, including reviewing and drafting corporate agreements.
Madeline is a member of the Disciplinary Committee of Singapore Hockey Federation and a volunteer lawyer with the Community Legal Clinic, Law Society’s Pro-Bono Services.
Prior to reading law at university, Madeline pursued a Diploma in Law and Management at Temasek Polytechnic.
As part of her 3-month Student Internship Programme, Madeline was attached to the Supreme Court where she had the opportunity to observe and assist with the work at the Legal Directorate.
She was placed in the Honours List throughout the 3 years of the course and was also awarded the Genesis Law Corporation Prize for being the best student in Criminal Procedure. She graduated with a Diploma in Law and Management with Merit in 2010.
Upon completing her Diploma, pending her university enrollment, Madeline worked as a paralegal in the General Litigation and Commercial Litigation department of law firms for more than a year.
Knowledge & Experience Beyond Law
Madeline has also acquired knowledge and skills in accounting, business management and computer systems through the various modules she had studied as part of her Diploma. She had also done short stints in the beauty, information technology and telecommunication sectors.
Madeline’s knowledge, skills and experience beyond the law have value-added to her practice. They have equipped her with the ability to scrutinise and understand various documents, consider the practical aspects of cases and advise clients accordingly and highlighting to clients any potential pitfalls and ensuring sufficient safeguards are in place when drafting, reviewing and/or advising clients on contractual matters.
When not occupied with work, Madeline enjoys spending time in the kitchen creating new dishes or making sweet treats for her family and friends, painting, participating in outdoor activities and travelling.
