Mr Tan graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1994. He was admitted as a Barrister-at-Law to The Honourable Society of Middle Temple, UK in 1995 and as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore on 12 March 1997. He is also a Commissioner for Oaths and Notary Public. He was formerly a legal officer with a leading insurance loss adjusting firm where he has advised various insurance companies on matters relating to the legal aspects of marine and non-marine claims. He has also worked as a Senior Officer with the former Singapore Customs & Excise Department (now merged with Immigration & Checkpoint Authority) holding the rank of Superintendent and has investigated a number of customs offences involving evasion of customs tax and GST.

Mr Tan did his pupillage in BRADDELL BROTHERS under the supervision of the late Harry Lee Wee. Prior to joining TEMPLARS LAW LLC as a director, he was a partner with M/s PETER ONG & RAYMOND TAN, and has practised with established law firms including TAN SEE SWAN & CO, HAMEED & CO. and RAYNEY WONG & ERIC NG (now known as VISION LAW LLC). As such, he has extensive experience and exposure in general litigation as well as conveyancing work and is effectively bilingual. He specialises in general solicitors’ work and has acted for banks including United Overseas Bank, OCBC, DBS Ltd, Standard Chartered Bank, RHB, Maybank and other offshore banks, individual and corporate purchasers and sellers in conveyancing matters and has also acted for purchasers and sellers in both residential and commercial properties and bridging loans transactions as well as for banks and purchasers of properties under development/construction.

Mr Tan is currently a legal adviser to Singapore Swimming Teachers’ Association (SSTA).
